MJ and Q were so extremely helpful and respectful. They made a very bad day end on a high note and I’m so grateful people like them are working at my local Budget Rental. My experience with them was better than all other vendors including the Turo app! I can’t thank them enough!!

Had a very strange and very shady experience with the Avis location located at 1830 S. Wabash this morning. Made a reservation, came in this morning to pick up the rental for a single day rental- total was $77 which I paid online with my Amex. Right off the bat, they said I had to use another card to pay for third party liability. I told them that the coverage was already supposed to be included in the $77. They said due to a corporate discount coupon I had applied to my account, third party liability was to be paid on a separate card. I told them this was not a corporate trip and that I have never had to pay third party liability on a separate card, especially as this was not a work trip. They then offered to bundle third party liability, damage waiver, and base fee all together for $80. I told them that I would like to waive the damage waiver and just needed the third party liability as I would like to use my card's protection. They then said if I do not do the bundle, the new charge would be $157. I have no idea how this makes sense, so I ended up cancelling the trip and got a rental at National instead. What was also strange was that they kept canceling the transaction on their end when my card was in the machine-- almost like they did not want me to use the Amex. I have a sense that these people are here to scam you into getting out of proper protection and then putting preexisting damage on you so that you are on the hook for it. Never again.

Like previous customer stated foreign customer service agents treating Americans as if we’re stupid the young guy tried to help but wasn’t really trained and was listening to the older foreign customer service agent which the older person insisted on trying to make me feel hopeless and tell me my credit card chip is damaged when I use this card every this was my first time trying to rent from Avis and had a bad experience I think I will stick with enterprise moving forward. I was warned before going there I just like to see for myself before I just go off other people words I most definitely will not be returning to this location. (18th wabash)

The staff was not friendly, and I was made to feel as though they were doing me a favor by allowing me to rent a vehicle I had reserved just two hours earlier. I reserved and paid ahead for an SUV but was given a minivan instead. When I expressed my dissatisfaction, I was repeatedly told it was because I made the reservation last minute, that I can wait until 3 for an SUV if I wanted one. So basically it was take what we give you. The lot was filled with cars. I even offered to take a mid size even though I paid for an SUV and was told that Minivans is all they have(when I arrived for pick up I see that was completely untrue). I was on a time crunch or else I would have taken a uber to Hertz and dispute the charge with Amex for the prepaid rental. I usually do not accept this type of service because I have options and receive better service with other rental car companies/locations. This experience left me feeling undervalued as a customer. Staff/owners should seek customer service/relations training asap. No one wants to spend money while being treated poorly. I also witness the condescending tone that was used towards other customers on site at the time. I will never return to that location and will stick with Hertz in the future
