Hertz Car Rental - Houston - Louisiana Street

I’ve rented from this place specifically about 5-7 times (can’t remember because I took a break when they were super rude) since being in Houston. I ALWAYS ASK FOR THE TICKET TO BE CLOSED OUT because I’ve been burned in the past. Every time I’ve rented at this place, I ask. Per usual I asked them to close me out and The woman seemed a bit hesitant but whatever….again, these aren’t personable people, so I didn’t care. Lo and behold… I should have checked the receipt before I left but they charged me for 5 gallons of gas even though the car was full as shown by the picture. The only person working is the lady who cleans the cars-She is amazing and tries to help when you’re standing in an empty building waiting for someone. And they have this new guy who is very kind but I’m sure he will be gone once he sees the way the pair of longstanding employees run this place. It’s annoying, just rent at the airport, less convenient but I’ve never been scammed nor deal with the attitude. I

I made a prepaid reservation for a minivan. The day before pickup, I called to ask about features specifically whether the van had entertainment options or screens for my kids to watch movies. I called from my work phone and mentioned that I had a reservation for a minivan. Before I could even provide my name, the representative immediately interrupted and said they didn’t have any minivans on the lot and wouldn’t have any returning the next day. I was confused because I hadn’t even given my name yet. I could have been anyone calling. Since I wasn’t in a position to continue the call, I asked my wife to call instead. She was told the same thing, there were no minivans available, but they could upgrade us to a Tahoe. The issue is, my personal vehicle is a Tahoe. The entire reason I reserved a minivan was for better fuel efficiency. When I originally made the reservation, it was for a Pacifica minivan or similar. I specifically paid an additional $15 to upgrade to a Toyota Sienna or similar vehicle, but we didn’t even receive a minivan at all. To make matters worse, they said if we accepted the SUV, we would have to pay the price difference for the upgrade. It’s unbelievable that we were expected to pay more because of their inventory issue. When we arrived, the vehicle wasn’t ready, and the staff was rude. As someone who worked in the rental car industry for six years, I understand that mistakes happen. However, there wasn’t a single apology offered. The complete lack of accountability and customer service was honestly beyond me. The only reason we booked at that specific location was because my wife has a corporate account there. I can see why they have 3 star review. *UPDATE* My wife spoke with Jay, and he was very accommodating. He sincerely apologized and said that if we ever need to rent another vehicle, to give him another opportunity and he would personally make sure everything is handled the right way. I understand that mistakes happen, we all make them. But at the very least, taking accountability for those mistakes goes a long way in my book.

I had an excellent experience with Hertz at their downtown Houston location. The staff was very respectful, professional, and made the entire process quick and easy from start to finish. A special shoutout to Jay—he was extremely helpful, friendly, and made sure everything went smoothly. His customer service really stood out and made the experience even better. The car I received was very clean, spacious, and drove smoothly. Returning the vehicle was just as simple—quick, convenient, and hassle-free. I really appreciated how easy they made everything, getting me in and out without any issues. I would definitely recommend this location to anyone looking for a smooth and stress-free rental experience!

I had an absolutely phenomenal experience with Hertz, and I have to give a special shoutout to Jay for making everything seamless from start to finish. From the moment I walked in, Jay was welcoming, professional, and genuinely attentive to my needs. The process was quick, stress-free, and organized—exactly what you hope for when renting a car. Jay went above and beyond to make sure I got the perfect vehicle, taking the time to explain my options and ensuring I was completely comfortable before leaving the lot. The car itself was spotless, well-maintained, and drove perfectly. What really stood out was the level of customer service. Jay’s positive attitude and willingness to help made a huge difference and turned what could have been a routine rental into a truly great experience. I had a wonderful experience with a very nice car but even more important to me were the friendly, helpful, and very warm employees when I was picking up the car and when I was returning the car. It was the best experience with a rental company that I have had in a long time. Someone really knows how to hire exceptional people.
