Disney world type lines! They have a line that is like your favorite amusement park ride.... rows and rows and rows of people waiting in line to get a car, with 2 workers checking people in. Then, they have a sign saying "skip the line, go straight to your car" by using a QR code to register. So people in line were filling out the forms, Inputting their info; and when they get to the end, they find out it costs THIRTY DOLLARS to do it yourself on line. That makes no sense at all. Pack a lunch and a partner to switch out your place in line for bathroom breaks if you want to rent a car here. Very disappointing. Why on earth would it cost extra to check in on line by yourself?!?!

Thrifty at PHX can be hit or miss. Our most recent experience was very good. We arrived at 10:00 am on a Saturday and there was no wait, the car was immediately available and in very good condition. Drop-off was similarly hassle free. However, we noted that at the same time on Saturday morning one week later, the line was much longer. One year ago, we had a wait of about one hour, with an understaffed counter and no vehicles available for a confirmed reservation. The good news is that Thrifty shares vehicles with Hertz, so the problem was eventually resolved. Overall, a much better experience this time and we would use Thrifty again at this location.

Waiting one hour in line while watching the staff talk to each other, sitting at desk but not helping customers. There are families waiting and feel sorry for the kids. I booked and pre paid for a full size car, while the agent provided me a mid size car, and car itself is not clean at all. Avoid Thrifty for your family, try another car rental company at the airpory

Car was great. Drove from phx airport to grand canyon for a few days. Woman who received my returned car was outstandingly nice. Reminded me to take all belongings, gave directions, etc. However, the woman who was at the desk when I completed my rental was initially really nice and friendly. That all changed when I declined ALL the upsells. She was mad! Didn't answer two questions I had (I let it go knowing I won't use thrifty again). You'd think the upsell money goes in her pocket and not the billionaires who own hertz/thrifty. Geesh!!!!!!

ZERO stars! AVOID at ALL costs if you want to keep your sanity after a long flight! Wish I checked the reviews before booking here! As the other reviews state, 2 hr line up, QR code check-in doesn't work, they won't accept your insurance, minimal employees working. The worst service I have ever had and they WILL scam you by getting you to buy their insurance and if you booked through a 3rd party get you to cancel so they can sell to you directly. Firstly, they "claim" they can't use your insurance, which is a total scam.....they just want you to buy theirs which they get commission on. I then went online and had to cancel my insurance. I had pre-paid my rental through Expedia, which they claimed they couldn't see in their system and wanted to charge me the full cost. I then showed them my app with the receipt. Called the Manager who took another 40 min to show up after we waited for 2 hours in the line-up. She was rude, unhelpful and unwilling to make any suggestions. No customer service, no apology ....just well your payment doesn't show and that's that. Called Expedia....they called Thrifty's (which wouldn't pick-up the phone) and ended up having to get a refund through Expedia and then purchase the rental direct through Thrifty's. Got the vehicle which should have been a new truck......it was completely banged up, scratched and smelled of smoke. I then went to employee downstairs and he said they have limited stock and was unhelpful. I finally lost it and said I'm not paying to hang out in a smoke filled vehicle all week! Then strangely....he changed his tune and gave me a brand new truck. STAY AWAY from the place. I'm currently working to take Thirfty's off the list of providers of Expedia at Harbour Sky. They are capitalizing on the business coming from Expedia, then cancelling and making customers book directly through them. SHADY!
