Michael Galt a month ago5.29.26 11:45 pm - Will update as this progresses. We allowed them to select our vehicle because it was 'cheaper'. Assigned a Mercedes Benz 10 passenger van that only takes Premium Gas. After hearing about how we would be responsible for cleaning and any potential damages, we decided to perform a thorough walkthrough before driving off. This turned out to be the best decision. Clearly the previous drivers had spilled drinks on the front passenger side. Dents and scratches on the vehicle were noticeable (at night). Decided to pop the hood to make sure everything underneath looked good. Hood latch did not function, unable to inspect. We are currently trying to exchange the vehicle for something we can actually inspect properly. 5.30 12:20 update - My original 3* rating has downgraded to a 2* We were told there are absolutely no other options for vehicles within the same price range, otherwise we will have to upgrade from the $20/day vehicle we currently have to a $130/day option. They insisted we take photos of all damage and keep a record until our deposit is returned to us, 3-5 days after we drop it off. He also insisted the vehicle was cleaned before we received it, after I explained this was not true and explained the spilled liquids on the passenger side, he just dismissed me and reminded me they have no other options available (yet the lot had several vehicles remaining {who knows, maybe those are all claimed all ready?). We were able to get the hood open; there is oil around the fill spot and liquids aren't all topped off. It's night time, so a complete inspection is not possible. The current plan is to get where we need to go tonight and get some sleep. We will likely return the vehicle in the am and get with a more reliable rental company. Our rep was very kind in his speech and mannerisms, otherwise this would be a 1 star.
Rigo Aragon 5 months agoGreetings and Happy New Year's, I would like to inform everyone, that in the recent days I was able to speak with a supervisor. Everything has been hashed out, thank you NU Car Rentals for taking care of business and helping our world be a better place. I THOUGHT 💭 I had found a good deal 🤝 for the holidays, but I was hustled by the agent. 1) vehicle was a (supplier's choice) and the agent claimed their inventory was limited, therefore a 10 passenger van was only vehicle available. I replied: No Problem I'll take it. He was surprised!! 2) The claimed insurance was $30.per day,, I replied that I would be using my own insurance. He then claimed my insurance didn't cover windshields or down time, all this without ever seeing my policy. 3) Then he asked me to give him a minute, came back and claimed that there was a cancelation for a SUV and he could give me an upgrade for the same $30.dollars I was going to pay for insurance. How Convenient!! 4) My insurance mysteriously would cover this SUV, which may not have a spare because people steal them...huh 5) Please note all vehicles available, and note all the dings and scratches. 6) Agent claims I was 2hrs early, notice pictures of odometer and time I actually was inside the vehicle. Olivia Aboshar 2 months agoUpon waiting for my charges to be finalized, I found out I was charged an additional $348.35 on top of what I had paid at the time of scheduling my rental. Due to being a Type A person and having minimal income, I verified costs with the salesmen assisting me. He had noted that what I had paid at the time of scheduling the car was correct and how their would be a $300 hold and upon return of the vehicle it would be given back, made clear sense to me, feeling comfortable and confident of the exchange. Like I said, had a finalized posting of a withdrawal of $348.35. Upon outreaching to NU, they stated that amount was not the hold, but rather their basic insurance plan for the vehicle. As I also said earlier, I have very minimal income, so if there was something offered for additional money I would decline it. The woman I spoke to in this first interaction was very kind and understanding, stating she would send my agreement to the managers to review audio of the transaction. This weekend I got a call from Michelle who identified herself as a manager at NU and how the payment would stand as is due to the salesman telling me “3-4 times about the insurance plan”. I asked her if there is a way I can review this audio myself as this is did not ring true to me. I was told that 3 managers reviewed it and how they cannot send me the audio as other customers personal information is with it. If you have ever been to this location, you will know that they have almost a cubicle set up for transactions. As someone who has worked in hospitality and spoke kindly to these individuals, I find this to not be acceptable. I even told Michelle how if this was a small amount of money I would have never said anything, but where I paid more money for “basic insurance” then the actual vehicle itself, I found myself needing to say something. In addition to this frustration and nothing being resolved from it, upon picking up my car it was covered in scratches as well as blue paint which prompted me to take picture of the vehicle before leaving their lot and also smelt of cigarettes. Would not recommend their services to anyone and will not be a returning customer.
Sarge Kennedy 8 months agoWhen United Airlines asked, Do you want to rent a car, they used this company and they were fine. Just glad we read the reviews and took a Lyft from PHX directly there since it is off-site and does not use the PHX rental car center. On the way back we had more time and took the NU shuttle van to the airport train and then 2 stops to terminal 3. Our driver was totally awesome and friendly, the train was super fast and I loved the sign on the train welcoming you to The Friendliest Airport in America! Kind of curious why car rental companies take so long for each check in manually typing in driver licenses rather than allowing you to upload before. So to summarize, the arrival experience when under time pressure to get to a meeting was a 4 star, but the drop off experience was solid easy 5 star and the awesome shuttle driver upgraded the rating to a 5!
Jenn Moore 2 weeks agoScott was great helping us with our rental at Nu Car Rentals. They have a great selection of BMW’s and SUV’s that fit all our needs. Scott went above and beyond with helping us into a 2nd rentals after the first one was too small. He was polite, personable, efficient and made the process enjoyable. Thanks Nu Cars and Scott.
