How to get a rental car at the airport while I was in town for a few days: I did everything online and went through the expedited process to scan my ID and pay for everything upfront. After doing all this work, I still had to wait in line and was told by the agent that it didn't matter that I did any extra work online; it doesn't help the process. We still had to go through the entire thing again with scanning and paying for the car. Be prepared to also pay a deposit that will be held on a credit card.

Really easy process from booking to drop off. We did have one minor issue where the battery of our car was dead when we picked up but the service staff were very quick to resolve this by getting us a new vehicle! The trip went smoothly and the return process was super easy. I received my receipt within a couple of hours and confirmation of no damage about a day later. Very happy with Hertz and would use them again and recommend them to others!

I travel A Lot.. and after looking through my emails I seem to have forgotten to Post the Review.. First off I went with Hertz for they had a special that weekend.. it seems to be obvious I wasnt the only one on this special for the lines was crazy long (while the others rentals didn't have any line) and if you know Phoenix Airport car rentals.. they are all located in the same building.. after the hour and a half in line.. the agent I was dealing with was handling 2 customers and the phone?? So it was a rush.. and he was just pushing people out like an assembly line.. so I was a little skeptical once I got my paperwork and location of the vehicle.. but I did move out of the way for the next customer.. once I found (picked) my rental.. and went out of the security area.. I looked over the paperwork for I didn't remember Not Initialing anything (declining etc) and I notice I was paying for the full to be charged.. I called because I wasn't going to go through that line again.. agent on phone stated just show at the end your receipt for gas and it'll be taken care of.. okay great.. Well once I did all that.. I still received an $80 gas charge!!! I tried fighting through emails.. well nothing was done.. so now I've been an Avis Preferred Plus Member and the lines are never long!! And Customer Service is 10x better..

With 16 check in desks they only were using 2. I waited in line for a little over 20 minutes. I made a reservation using credit card reward points. When I checked in I said I had a reservation, the Hertz employee was rushed due to the long line but didn’t say anything about my reservation. The person proceeded to have me initial a few places and gave me a car. A larger one than I rented. Upgrade! That’s what I thought. Then the employee gave me a total. I told him I paid with credit card points and they said, “Oh this is for a security deposit.” Tapped my card and walked out to the car. I saw a charged quite a bit more money than a security deposit on my credit card so I called Hertz to ask why. Their AI phone tree is the worst. It was so frustrating to get to talk to a real person. When I did get in touch with a real person they said there was no record of me using credit card points on my reservation. In fact, there was a completely different reservation number the emailed reservation number from my credit card. We figured the Hertz employee who checked me in didn’t use the reservation I made, created a new reservation, told me the total was a “Security Deposit”, then charged me for an upgraded car! I am furious. On the phone a case was opened and when I spoke with my credit card company they said they would not give me a refund until a resolution with Hertz gets resolved. Be careful with this location. They will lie to you and charge you eventhough you have already paid through your previous reservation. Update: After multiple calls with Hertz they admit no fault after their “investigation” and will not refund charges. Fortunately, American Express did refund my points so I wasn’t paying twice for one rental. I see Hertz doesn’t care for its customers. I hope they improve in the future or they will begin to lose business.

From start to finish we had a wonderful experience with Hertz! We've been using them for years and the process keeps getting better. No lines and waiting as we got an email that our car was ready and could go directly to the lot! Took a couple minutes to get our receipt and to have the agent ask a couple questions. Instead of having to log scratches, dents, etc there was a camera that took multiple pics before we left and as we returned. The return process was simple. Drive up to the lot, empty our bags and leave the keys in the car. Easy peasy. We will continue to book through Hertz!
